| General Overview | Tarn has a deep and spiritual faith in the Prophets of the Celestial Temple located within the Bajoran Wormhole. The conventional non-Bajoran understanding of the Prophets, as an advanced alien non-corporal species, does not diminish his belief. This faith has sustained him throughout his life, it is a source of encouragement and inspiration. He is resourceful, innovative and adaptable. He has a strong survival instinct honed by his early childhood, overcoming the hardship and brutality of Cardassian labor camps. He is an active proponent of the Bajoran proverb “Confrontation is better than avoidance” Learning early on that to be seen as weak or a victim would be to invite others to use or abuse him. Adhering to a personal moral code he is able to set the usual standards of legal and ethical behavior aside if the need arises. Larceny and violence are acceptable, but never for their own sake, that said he has little tolerance for bullies or those who prey on the innocent. While generally open and friendly, his situation means he is slow to trust completely and can be guarded around those he does not know. Is fiercely loyal once trust is established. Summary execution of token Camp inmates has not brought about the expected decrease. Further executions will be scheduled. 2365.3 : Cardassian Union – Batal Labor Camp Security Control Report Approximately 83 inmates escaped from a work party taken outside of the perimeter to clear snow from the Camp landing field. A Resistance raid was timed to coincide with the work party and despite heavy losses to the Resistance forces the inmates are believed to have escaped under the cover of a blizzard. A round up of known local Resistance sympathizers has been ordered for interrogation along with a draft on the local population of 200 hundred adults to replace those inmates who escaped. 2368.2 : Cardassian Union - Bajoran Sector Command meeting Minutes - Tarok Nor The Bajoran Resistance continues to perpetuate attacks against Cardassian Union personnel in the planetary orbit. There has been a 23% increase in attacks by Bajoran craft against CU vessels in the system. A number of the vessels involved appear to be CU transports hijacked during an escape from Batal Labor Camp three years ago. It is believed these Transports have been rearmed by an agency outside of the CU and Bajoran Sectors. The Obsidian order is investigating reports of Federation Intelligence operatives providing clandestine support to Bajoran rebels. 2370.4 : UFP Diplomatic Corps: Bajor - Post Occupation Political Analysis Following the negotiated withdrawal of the Cardassian Union from the Bajoran system the UFP Diplomatic Corps is assisting the fledging Bajoran Provisional Government by bringing together both spiritual and secular leaders to unite the planet and its people under one common planetary government. There are a number of anticipated difficulties, primary among these being the role of former resistance groups in any future government and whether such groups will be a pro -Federation. One group in particular, the Kohn-Ma, is thought to be hostile towards the UFP. The Kohn-Ma has amongst its member hard line cadres of former Cardassian Labor Camp survivors who are known to be extremely intolerant of any external influences encroaching into Bajoran society. They have requested Star Fleet assistance in neutralizing these elements to prevent Dominion reprisals against their planet. 2376.8 : USS Kittyhawk – Post combat debriefing USS Kittyhawk engaged seven Marquis vessels in the Purian System. Two Marquis ships were destroyed, one was captured and the remainder withdrew. Investigation and interrogations of the captured crew found that the Marquis now has a number of members of the former Bajoran Militia in its ranks. Three of these individuals were returned to the Bajoran government, during their questioning they indicated that as many as two hundred other former Militia members are now with the Marquis. 2380.2 : Star Base 211 Security Department report – Civilian ships raided A convoy of four merchant transports requested emergency assistance from the base Fighter Wing following an attack by raiders in the Faron Prime system. Two squadrons of the Wing responded but were too late to engage the raiders who had stolen twenty two cargo containers and departed. The merchant crews reported the raiders to be made up of a number of species including Arcturans, Bajorans, Klingons, Nausicaans and Orions. 2384.9 : Romulan Ministry of Justice, Criminal Court Division, Subsector 12 Notice of Bond – Bail bond was posted for Bran Lanner, CCD case #84.98-RT56 Bond was deposited by Moyan-Lat Legal Services on behalf of Tagraton Transportation Services. 2384.12 : Star Fleet Intelligence report – Romulan criminal organizations, an overview. Following the disruption within the Romulan Star Empire following the collapse of the previous regime there has arisen a new and sophisticated organized criminal fraternity. Highly disciplined, well equipped and ruthless many of these groups are led by former members of the Romulan military and intelligence services. Primary amongst these new criminal leaders is D’ertol, a former member of the Tal Shia. D’ertol is believed to be well connected politically and is on the surface the CEO of a legitimate Romulan merchant company, the Imperial Sun Corporation. However, information indicates the ISC is a front for a range of criminal activities including larceny, fraud, drug smuggling, and illegal weapons distribution. ISC also has a number of subsidiaries including Tagraton Transportation Services, who is believed to be ISC’s smuggling operation. Approximately four months ago a group of mercenaries were caught trying to steal a mothballed D’deridex Class warship. The group included a number of non-Romulan species, including Orions, Nausicans and Bajorans. The group was detained when the ship’s power system failed as it was attempting to cross the neutral zone. The thieves were taken to a minor system on the outskirts of the Empire pending return to Romulus for trial. Following a legal challenge by a TTS lawyer bail in the local court was set at a ridiculously low level and all members of the group were bailed out with hours of the hearing. It is believed the court officials were heavily bribed prior to the hearing. The whereabouts of the thieves is not known, they all boarded a TTS ship and have not been seen since. They have jumped bail and are considered fugitives from Romulan justice. Approximately two weeks after a TTS ship was found derelict in orbit of planet in the Neutral Zone. It appeared to have taken a number of impacts from a heavy disruptor type weapon. It is not known if this is the same vessel that removed the Warbird thieves, or if there were any survivors. D’ertol is not known for tolerating failure or leaving witnesses alive to testify. [Extract ends] 2386.4: Federation Judicial Service: Romulan crime syndicate linked to Imperial Sun Corporation Transcripts from a Romulan tribunal held in secret, at some time in the last six months, report that the Chief Executive Officer, one D’ertol, of the Imperial Sun Corporation was indicted on seventeen counts of organized criminal activity. The indictments were reportedly based on series of anonymous reports delivered to the Romulan Senate Judicial Committee on Un-Romulan Activities. After a short review of the evidence the tribunal found the CEO guilty on all counts and D’ertol was sentence to death. Sentence was carried out immediately. 2388.3 Federation Galactic Aid and Welfare Service – Influx of Romulan refugees following Hobus supernova. “Two worlds bordering the Neutral Zone have reported a steady increase in refugees fleeing the devastation of the Hobus Supernova. Planetary security forces have expressed concern that at least three vessels arriving from the Star Empire appeared to contain former detainees of the Romulan penal system. These included a variety of non-Romulan species, including Humans, Ferengi, Klingons, Bajorans, Andorians and Cardassians. At least one inbound ship was reportedly hijacked by the former inmates. The veracity of this report cannot be confirmed and the vessel concerned or its current whereabouts are unknown” 2390.3 Deep Space Nine – Promenade Security Shift Briefing: Bar Fight at Quarks Promenade Security responded to a major bar fight at Quarks at approximately 21.45 hours last night. At least fourteen customers were involved in a brawl which seemed to be between a Bajoran freighter crew from the BMS Karlen Island and a number of other species, including other Bajorans. All participants declined to press charges and responding officers escorted the freighter crew back to their ship. The crew was ordered to remain aboard until it’s departure some four hours later. The freighter departed the station and transited the wormhole at 02.20 hours this morning. Secondary review of security tapes indicate a number of the Karlen Island crew may be former members of the Militia. There is a seventy six percent chance one was former Captain Lanka B’Tarn Service No. 187390-472 , for whom there is an arrest and detain warrant. 2390.3 New Bajor Obirtal Traffic Control – Daily inbound shipping list BMS Karlen Island Captain requested and received landing permission for the central city landing pad. Analysis: The individual known as Langar Tarn now appears to have moved to the Gamma Quadrant and may be living on, or in the vicinity of New Bajor.
