Personality & Traits

General Overview To say that Clint Westbrooke is surly... may be an abuse of the word. Clint is grumpy and often indifferent, and can be combative at times. However, those that have gotten to know him and truly call him friend will tell you that ... he's also grumpy and surly at the best of times, but he's fiercely loyal and cares about the people in that inner fold to a fault. He's not one to back down from a fight, nor is he one to hesitate starting one, and generally isn't the best choice for anything diplomatic. He can be charming when he needs to be, but it's usually for a con... or a one night stand.
Strengths & Weaknesses +Hard working
+Intelligent
+Loyal
+Can hold his alcohol
-Temper
-Authority Issues
-Prone to Fighting
-May or may not have a warrant or two in some fringe sectors...
Ambitions To go out in a blaze of glory, is at all possible pissing his father off massively at the same time.
Quirks & Flaws Clint has a chronic bad attitude, but he does have his redeeming qualities. He's quick to get into a fight, but it's usually to protect someone or in response to some wrong - real or perceived. Once you've been accepted by him, there's very little change in his behavior, except he'll seek you out to talk, rather than being pulled into conversations. He likes being left alone to do his job, and he'll do his job well. He can't stand being micromanaged. He is a hard worker, and he'll do extra work if you need him to, or if he just sees that it needs to be done.
Passions No one knows this at all, but Clint is an artist. He constantly doodles and paints in a little sketch book he carries with him all the time, but he never lets anyone see it.

Background

Personal History Clint grew up in Detroit with his mother, basking in the shadow of his father's legacy. Clinton Westbrooke, Sr, was one of the most decorated Captain's in Starfleet history, only paling behind the likes of James T. Kirk or Jean-Luc Picard in level of fame. By the time Clint was in high school, he felt alienated by his father's identity, always being "Clinton Westbrooke's son". Indeed, even when he was referring to by his own name, he heard his father's, being the Jr. to his Sr. He felt lost in the shadow of the man that he should be proud of. Their relationship was contemptuous from an early age, with the elder Clinton deciding that a firm and aloof hand was what was best, and the younger Clinton just wanting to be a kid. The fight around his entry into Starfleet Academy was nigh-upon catastrophic, narrowly avoiding coming to blows. The elder Westbrooke dragged his son out to the shuttle and strapped him in himself.

Clint's time in the Academy was ripe with trouble from the first day, and his expulsion, before the end of his first year, for striking a superior officer came as no surprise. Dishonorably discharged, Clint called his father with a bloody like and shit-eating grin on his face, holding up the PaDD to the screen with his discharge information on it. His father told him to never come back, and never speak to him again, that he was a disgrace to the family and he'd been disowned. Clint was happy to oblige, but did try to sneak contact with his mother in spite of his father until she died of a stroke a couple years later.

Clint drifted after that, pulling odd job and whatever con paid the bills. His record is a mishmash of misdemeanors and battery charges interspersed with medical records of broken bones and bloody knuckles all across Federation space, and a few areas outside of it. Eventually, Clint caught wind of a long term, consistently paying job aboard the SS Fawkes, and put out a comm... who knows, maybe his luck was turning around.
