Background
| Personal History | Most of Andi's memories of her childhood were of her parents arguing over her. Her mother wanted her to be raised girly and feminine while her father wanted her to be encouraged to explore life and make up her own mind. Given that she loved swinging swords, riding horses and climbing trees, she was definitely grateful for her father's take on childhood and loved the freedom he gave her. This inevitably led to more fighting which made being at home for any amount of time almost unbearable and she spent a lot of her childhood waking hours in the company of Avo, her paternal Grandmother. Avo was the one who taught her how to count cards, swing a mean left hook and not get caught. Shortly before her 18th birthday she made the decision to join Starfleet after the sudden and unexpected loss of her Avo. Her decision to join such an illustrious establishment was something that made her Father incredibly proud, yet angered her Mother to the point of no return as her Mother did not believe that such a career choice was suitable for a female. The two have not spoken since. By the beginning of her second year at the Academy, Andi had established an illegal on campus casino and was running a series of popup raves, providing all manner of fun substances for anyone that paid the hefty cover charge. It was during one of these raves that a fight broke out and another cadet was killed by one of the bouncers Andi had hired for the event. Starfleet Security shut them down and Andi was disciplined, unfortunately the rest of her adventures came to light and she ended up being expelled from Starfleet Academy for behaviour unbecoming of a Starfleet Cadet. Deciding that it was probably a good thing as the restrictions Starfleet placed on her character were definitely far to restrictive, Andi jumped a ship and decided to see where the universe would take her. She spent the first two years working as a Dabo girl, something she actually found incredibly appealing as it managed to combine all her favourite things into one neat little package and the opportunity for petty crime turned out to be really quite profitable. Though she had truly enjoyed what she was doing, when the son of the owner of the establishment started taking a vested interest in the 'family business' Andi found her enjoyment waning as the son's behaviours grew more and more undesirable. The final straw came the night the son came to her personal quarters trying to blackmail her over a small incident of petty theft. Andi retaliated, leaving him on the floor in her quarters with a broken nose, two black eyes and dislocated testicles before throwing a few personal things into a bag and leaving. Finding a freighter that was scheduled to depart, Andi begged for passage, promising to pull her weight and do what ever she had to do to get out of there. |
