"Yes, I've induced a coma in order to preserve neural function." Taleria sighed as she answered yet another barrage of questions from the Physician who had come aboard to retrieve the body of former First Mate Volok. "We couldn't risk relying on our apparatus' for too long with the extent of his injuries."

As the unconscious body of Volok was laid up on the anti-grav stretcher between the Physician and the Nurse that had come aboard, Taleria and Mayterial walked alongside them. The trill herself was glad the whole ordeal was finally over. She'd made her peace with the death of Baran years ago, during her zhian'tara, having it all resurface again was painful and disconcerting. The crew of the Fawkes had come close to having casualties however, quite close. Part of her that relished a challenge and the adrenaline, liked dealing with the mess, despite how wrong it was.

"You did well, Doctor Lin. His life sign readings are stabile and from your report, we can proceed with surgeries and recovery once he is safe enough to bring out of the coma." Said the Physician.

Mayterial stood silently as she looked at Volok being carried out of the freighter's airlock connected with the outpost, "I'm not sure how I can thank you for stepping up, doctor." May said as the Starfleet medical officers slowly made their way out of hearing range.

Taleria looked over at the dark haired woman, "I did what any medical professional would do, Captain." She said, smiling a little. "But you're welcome." Lin realized that Droz needed some kind of an answer, regardless of what Taleria herself thought.

"Well, that's not true. I had a medic on board that just lost it." She looked around the station from her vantage point of the airlock, "probably not going to find someone as capable as you out here." She knew it was a long shot, the Doctor had just been passing through. Chances where high she'd get the fuck out of dodge now that they were back on 'solid ground'.

Taleria had to grin at the awkward start of an obviously important conversation. The young ones and their subtlety. Lin had long ago learned that if you needed and wanted something, you went for it, you didn't dally around. "What are you asking me, Mayterial Droz?" She asked with a gentle smile.

"You seemed to thrive in the medical bay. I know it's not as fancy or advanced as what you're used to but that only means your skill matters that much more." Mayterial hadn't fully recovered from the rough night before, but she knew that Taleria seemed open to the idea by the way of her body language and the fact that she was fishing for the invitation, "I guess, what I'm saying is, I want to offer you a job."

Lin felt the rush of excitement at the unusual challenge. She had been trying to find the next challenge she could add to the pool of Lin's experience, rather than joining the Federation Health Organization, which on reflection, was looking positively boring. "I'll take it. My other option was the FHO, I had an interview set with them at Langley Station. This seems a lot more exciting." The blonde trill grinned.

Mayterial returned a warm smile, she was happy that the Trill doctor accepted the offer, "In all honesty, I hope the next few weeks aren't as exciting as the past few days." She folded her arms and looked into the outpost again, "Please check with Miss Onasis to supplement your medical supplies. She's in charge of the ship's stock for now." It reminded her that she needed to find a new Quartermaster. She'd had a message from a potential one on the planet's surface. His name alone warranted an introductory meeting.

Taleria nodded, "I'll do a stocktake soon as you authorize me in the system and touch base with Miss Onasis. And please, call me Taleria, or Lin, whichever you like." She said with a grin.

"How about Doctor Lin?" Mayterial smiled back a bit, she had promised herself to keep a professional distance from the new crew, in the hopes it would help prevent being double-crossed by people she considered to be her friends. "We're leaving first thing in the morning, make sure you and the supplies you need are back on board by then."

Taleria nodded, "yes, Captain."

Mayterial was happy to have the physician on board, she had proven her worth in the last few days, "Oh and I'll make sure you'll be instated from the moment you got aboard on Starbase 74, you'll get reimbursed for your travel expenses." She thought it was only proper that she was compensated for her efforts during the past few days, "Now, if you'll excuse me, Doctor, I have some other business to attend."

"Yes, ma'am." The trill nodded resolutely, but not without hiding a grin.

"The reason a lot of people do not recognize opportunity is because it usually goes around wearing overalls looking like hard work."
